Organised by the COASTAL DESIGN LAB, the WINTER WORKSHOP WW2020 will take place from Thursday 23rd January to Monday 3rd February in classrooms 5B/C of the dAD - Department of Architecture and Design.
In the a.y. 2019/2020, CDL#6 worked on the definition of projects for the reuse and enhancement of the external and internal spaces of the Fortezza del Priamàr in Savona. The primary intention is the construction of a single overall project articulated in two parallel and coordinated seminars focused on the Fortress and, at the same time, on the walls and the border between the city and the port. To this end, project hypotheses and intervention actions have been developed with the aim of triggering regeneration dynamics in neighbouring contexts such as the marina and the historic city centre.
The final definition of the overall project was supported by several activities during the curriculum period, in particular the intensive workshop conducted in coordination with Florida International University - FIU in Miami (Prof. Matthew Rice), the Workshop LIVING IN A MONUMENT conducted in parallel with Dankook University Architectural Studies in Seoul (Prof. Arch. Jaeuk Chong). The CDL#6 has benefited from several international contributions including the collaboration with Özyeğin University in Istanbul (Prof. Luca Orlandi).
At the end of WW2020, from 11th to 16th February 2020, the exhibition of the project proposals will take place inside the Fortezza del Priamàr in Savona (Palazzo del Commissario).
