Dear students of the Degree Course in Architectural Sciences,

I am writing to inform you of the ways in which classes will be held in the second semester, hoping that the situation will improve and allow us to return to normal soon.

As you know, in recent months, it has only been possible to follow the lessons and almost all the training activities of the various degree courses of the University at a distance.

Following the recent greater openness to the possibility of starting to carry out some activities in presence, the various Departments and Degree Courses that belong to them are now evaluating how to proceed.

It is difficult because it is necessary to guarantee a full right to study and, at the same time, to respect the necessary security measures, which is complex in universities given the regional and extra-regional catchment area and the related need to travel.

In almost all of you students - I imagine and I hope - and in all of the teachers - I know - there is only the desire to return soon to work together in presence, also for the greater difficulty for all of us in facing remotely the different and many disciplines that characterize our specific field of training and teaching; however, it is not possible for now that to try by small steps.

The decision depends on several factors, but, in particular, on the overall organization of the spaces of our Department, on the coexistence of different Degree Courses and on the number - in our case high - of students, courses and teachers involved.

For this reason, the lessons of the second semester of our Degree Course will be held remotely for all our courses, even if we will try, little by little, to allow the presence of some occasional training activities and small groups, such as reviews, inspections and the like. In no case, however, will these activities be compulsory and everyone will always be guaranteed the possibility to follow all the formative moments of all the courses at a distance.

Only in these days we have known about this opportunity and we are organizing ourselves to try to make possible at least these occasional activities in a short time, in the best and safest way possible. Your teachers will explain to you, as soon as we have agreed, evaluating all the possible overlaps, what opportunities for work and meeting in presence you will have in the different courses.

Needless to say - as you know - how difficult this situation is and how much we all hope for an improvement that will allow us to carry out at least the July theses, workshops and summer exams in presence.

A warm greeting to all,

andrea giachetta, course coordinator
