The 43rd European Workshop on Rheumatology Research (EWRR 2024) organised in Genoa by Maurizio Cutolo, UniGe professor emeritus.

The event recorded the highest ever attendance in the history of the scientific meeting with over 330 delegates from 35 countries and the awarding of 90 prizes for the best communication projects to young men and women researchers in Rheumatology. In the presence of the presidents of EULAR - European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology and SIR - Italian Society of Rheumatology, together with the presentation of over 200 posters during 20 guided tours, the event was enriched by the speeches of dozens of speakers, with keynote lectures by world experts in the field of rheumatology from NIH Bethesda and Cleveland Clinic.

The workshop was opened by the greeting of the Rector Federico Delfino, who mentioned the progressive integration of translational research in the medical field and cutting-edge biomedical technology. This was followed by a message from the pro-rector of doctoral studies Mario Marchese, who mentioned the University of Genoa's educational programmes and their interactions with the world of work.
The event was sponsored not only by UniGe together with EULAR and SIR, but also by the European Network (ERN) on rare and complex connective tissue diseases, of which the Rheumatology Clinic of the University of Genoa is Deputy Chair for Europe.
