Genoa presented its maritime-port and logistics system to a delegation from the Misurata Free Zone, in Libya, during a meeting promoted by the Genoa Chamber of Commerce involving institutions, businesses, and the world of research.
After introductory speeches by Chamber of Commerce President Luigi Attanasio and the President of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority Matteo Paroli, speakers included Flavio Tonelli, lecturer at the University of Genoa and moderator of the proceedings, the Rector Federico Delfino, Silvio Fremura (Autorità di Sistema Portuale), Stefano Messina (Assarmatori), Andrea Giachero (Spediporto), Giorgio Metta (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia) and Davide Falteri (Federlogistica).
The vice-president of the Misurata Chamber of Commerce Abdulmajeed Altager Blaow and the general manager of Lisco Steelworks Al Hadi Abd Alalah Iqmefa spoke for the Libyan delegation, highlighting the area's economic, commercial and industrial potential, with particular reference to the steel sector.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the two territories, particularly in the areas of logistics, industry and training.
