ERC Starting Grant awarded to Monica Frega

Monica Frega, a lecturer in Bioengineering at the University of Genoa, has been awarded a 2026 ERC Starting Grant worth 1.5 million euros for the Neuron2Brain project, which is dedicated to developing new approaches for personalised prediction of treatment response in epilepsy.

The project will run for five years and will integrate biological models derived from human stem cells with computational digital twins, with the aim of helping to bridge the gap between what is observed in the laboratory and what happens in an individual’s brain.
