The Euclid satellite of the eponymous mission managed by ESA - European Space Agency, with the contribution of NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
It departed from Savona, heading to the launch pad at Cape Canaveral.
The satellite will take off in July to position itself about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth and make a 3-D map of billions of galaxies.
The University of Genoa is involved, with other study and research organizations and institutes, in instrument construction and scientific activities in preparation for the mission.
