Eight master's and doctoral theses dedicated to the memory of Judge Giovanni Falcone will each year receive an award established under the "Protocol of understanding on awareness-raising and training in the academic world to promote the culture of memory, commitment and legality" signed by the Ministry of Universities (MUR), the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), the Falcone Foundation and the National Council of University Students (CNSU). The agreement intends to enhance the competence and quality of university students and young researchers engaged in work on topics concerning mafia-type crime, the social and economic impact of criminal activities on the territories and the figures of the men and women who have dedicated their lives to fighting the mafia.


The first place winner of the master's thesis will receive a cash grant of 3 thousand euros and the publication of the paper with an ISBN code and digital Open Access (Free O.A.), the second, third and fourth place winners will be awarded with the publication of the paper with an ISBN code and digital Open Access.


Theses discussed between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020 will be eligible for the call. Each applicant may submit only one application under one of the two actions provided by the call.


The submission of applications, signed and accompanied by all the required documentation, must be made exclusively by PEC to fondazionefalcone@pec.it no later than April 12, 2021".
