UniGe joined the global event of the climate change movement "Fridays for Future" on 27 September and sponsored the initiative.

"Fridays For Future" is an international nonpartisan movement born from the protest of Greta Thunberg, the young activist who has been demonstrating in front of the Swedish parliament since August 20, 2018, striking from school to ask her government for a real commitment to combat the climate emergency.

The September event follows those of 15 March and 24 May of this year, which had a large participation of the square to call on global and local policies for an immediate and concrete commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and contain the increase in the global average temperature, in accordance with the Paris agreements of the Cop21.
