The Master's Degree Course in Maritime and Port Economics and Management (EMMP), the first instituted in Italy and among the first in Europe on maritime port logistics, celebrates twenty years since its activation. To mark the occasion on 8 May 2024, an event was organised on board the ship MSC Fantasia (video, poster), which was attended, in addition to students and lecturers of the Course, by the Mayor of Genoa, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Genoa and other academic authorities, representatives of institutions and companies that are members of the Consulta and other stakeholders of the sector.

Prof. Enrico Musso, Course Coordinator, traced its history and illustrated its features (video interviewpaper interview, and slides). The degree course, thanks to an interdisciplinary approach and a strict adherence to the curriculum to the sector's needs, trains graduates who are in high demand and appreciated by the operational world of shipping and logistics.

Host of the event, Theo Notteboom, professor at the Universities of Ghent and Antwerp, one of the world's leading experts in maritime and port economics, gave a lecture on Geopolitics and Seaports: Impact on Trade Flows, Governance Settings and Stakeholder Acceptance (see. interview).
