Microbes could have carved the surface of Mars

The surface of Mars may have been carved by microbes, possible authors of enigmatic stick structures observed in Gale Crater.


This revolutionary conclusion was reached by a multidisciplinary team of scientists led by Andrea Baucon, paleontologist at the University of Genoa, and composed of:

  • Carlos Neto de Carvalho, geologist collaborator of the D Institute. Luiz at the University of Lisbon
  • Fabrizio Felletti, professor of geology and sedimentology at the University of Milan
  • Roberto Cabella, Professor of Geo-resources at the University of Genoa.
